All cultivars were developed by the conventional intervarietal hybridization and pedigree breeding and were at no stage subjected to genetic modifications with the use of artificial DNA constructs (transgenes)

Cultivars listed below are hybrids: either single-cross or three-way-cross hybrids All cultivars have inherited  from their maternal plants the cytoplasmic male sterility system (CMS) that facilitates seed production on commercial scale by blocking the seed set via self-fertilization All cultivars listed below have resistance to the common necrotic strain of PVY mediated by an allele of the "va" gene  and resistance to black root rot (Thielaviopsis basicola/Chalara elegans) conferred by a gene originated from the wild species Nicotiana debneyi
Cultivar/line A x Cultivar/line = single-cross hybrid (F1)
single-cross hybrid (A x B) x Cultivar/line C  = three-way-cross hybrid
symbol after cultivar name -  "tabacum-glauca" type of CMS
no symbol after cultivar name -"bigelovii"type of CMS
